In my first blog post, I go into why a tutor is becoming more essential in the current educational climate.
What I am finding more and more is not that students can't grasp the material, but that students can't grasp how to study. That is why I included this crucial PDF called "Barriers to Study," as well as a few study books so you can recognize when you are not comprehending something. I have applied these to my own tutoring and have taken courses based on this material. Not only has my understanding gone up, such as my SAT Verbal score on a practice test increasing by 150 points, but even my IQ went up!

As you will see in the PDF, difficulties grasping a subject can be traced back to a misunderstood word, among other barriers. So even though you can't use a dictionary during a test, it is a valuable tool to have during homework and while studying!
